Church Covenant

We as individuals make this covenant with God:

Having accepted the gift of his forgiveness and grace in each of our lives, and being led by the Holy Spirit to mature in our relationship with God, we acknowledge that we are together only to be the church of God in Christ. We are here by choice. Through the same grace we received as individuals, God is making us a fellowship to embody and to express the Spirit of Christ. In this fellowship, we are no longer Jews or
Greeks; slaves or free men or even merely men or women, but we are all the same – we are Christians, we are one in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:28).

Therefore, we reject any favoritism in this fellowship in terms of church office, wealth, race, age, sex, education, or other distinctions. We are all parts of one body, we have the same Spirit, and we have all been called to the same glorious future. There is only one Lord, one
faith, one baptism, and we all have the same God and Father who is over us all, works through us all, and is in us all (Ephesians 4:4-6). Therefore, we make this covenant with God to lead lives worthy of God’s calling: to be humble and gentle, to be patient with each other, to make allowances for one another because of our
love, and to try always to be led by the Holy Spirit so that we will be at peace with one another (Ephesians 4:1-3).

As a member of such a church, we intend to live inspired by the following commitments: We will gather regularly with the Church to worship God, share the good news, and continually examine its implications for our lives. We will study the Bible, meditate, and pray, so that we will more fully experience the presence of God and His message for our lives. We will also be sensitive to God’s message, as it comes to us from persons, history, the arts, nature, current happenings in the world and other sources. We will intentionally give ourselves as Christ’s servants through participation in His mission in the world.

We will try to discover and affirm the gifts God has given us, and use them in God’s service to minister wherever we find the opportunity. We will try to discover, affirm and celebrate the gifts God has given to others. We will be responsible to God through the creative use of all our income and possessions. We will give systematically to the financial support of our Church’s ministry as led by the Holy Spirit. We will seek to know and love our  sisters and brothers in this fellowship, and we are willing to be known and loved by them.

With God’s help, and the help of our brothers and sisters in this fellowship, we make this covenant.
